About Removable Dentures
There are numerous factors that can lead to teeth loss, including gum disease, tooth decay, injury to the mouth, and not practicing healthy oral hygiene routines. Dentures offer those patients without teeth a way to improve the aesthetic appearance and functionality of their mouth. Dr. Neela Patel of Houston Heights Dentistry uses custom-made full and partial dentures to enhance her patients' smiles. Partial dentures may be used to replace several, but not all, missing teeth, and is an alternative to a permanent solution like a bridge or implant. Complete dentures replace all of the upper and/or lower teeth. Unlike implant-supported dentures, regular dentures are stabilized by adhesives. Made of high-quality materials, dentures are created to feel and appear as natural as possible.
"Dr. Neela Patel and staff are wonderful. I've been going here for 20 years and even though it is out of the way from my work and home it's worth the drive."- D.A. / Google / Sep 18, 2018

"Best dentist ever. If you are looking for a new dentist - go here! Dr. Patel and her staff go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, welcome, and taken care of. Dr. Patel is very personable and takes her time with you rather than just herding you thru. I have some allergies in which Dr. Patel took the time to do a ton of research to ensure I would be ok for a small procedure. They have one of the most kind and professional teams that I have encountered in a long time. I would highly recommend them without hesitation."- K.M. / Yelp / Oct 15, 2018
What to Expect
The procedure for dentures starts with Dr. Patel preparing the patient's mouth, which may include extracting some remaining teeth in the case of a full denture. After the mouth is prepared, physical impressions will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory where custom dentures will be created. While the permanent dentures are being created, Dr. Patel may fabricate temporary dentures to wear. When the custom dentures are completed, they will be adjusted as needed to give you your most comfortable and secure fit possible. Typically, a follow-up appointment after your dentures are first fitted is made so they can be checked and adjusted.
Care instructions for dentures will be provided by Dr. Patel to help you keep your dentures clean and in good condition. Removable dentures can last 2 – 10 years with proper care, including regular dental exams as often as recommended by Dr. Patel to check the wear of your dentures and the health of your gums and mouth.
Complete and partial dentures are usually covered at least in part by dental insurance - typically no more than 50% of in-network fees. Our office will contact your insurance company to calculate what your insurance will pay and your personal cost. Please talk to our staff about what payments are accepted by our office and what financing plans are available.
